Hidden Pines Fire - Press Release

Camp Wilderness Ridge – Hidden Pines Fire Update

Smithville, TX—10/16/2015— The Bastrop County Hidden Pines Fire moved through Camp Wilderness Ridge over the past two days. Camp staff received word that several structures on both the 1320 Park Road 1C and 855 Park Road 1C properties, including all staff housing, were lost. All camp staff and families were safely evacuated and are relocated to temporary housing in the area. The full extent of damage is presently unknown until access to the two camp properties is restored.

Previous Experience with Wildfire Recovery

Since September of 2011, Camp Wilderness Ridge has been recovering from the Bastrop Complex Fire, where 24 out of 26 total structures were lost, as well as vehicles, maintenance equipment, and 90% of trees. Camp staff are thankful for the numerous volunteers who have labored alongside them to re-plant pines, mitigate fire load, rebuild and restore camp facilities, and serve several thousand guests over the last four years.
